We will be using this wikispaces site to create an interactive classroom where we can further discuss the novels that we read. You will be required to participate in a variety of activities that will hopefully help you both understand and appreciate the novel.

Before we begin, I need to address web etiquette. What follows are our rules for using this site.
1. When you are being critical of other people's posts and ideas, be respectful and remember that there is a thoughtful and well-meaning person behind everything that is typed on this wikispace.

2. Follow the same standards of decency on this wikispaces that you would follow at school. Remember that the school's student handbook rules and policies all apply to this site.

3. The content on this page will be shared among all four of my CB 11 English classes. Please keep this in mind. Do your best to make yourself look and sound like a well-informed intelligent individual. This is not a facebook site and you will lose points if the content your posts does not reflect an understanding of that distinction.

4. Be forgiving of other people's mistakes. Do not feel that it is your duty to clean up, call out, and pass judgement on people whose writing has typos and grammatical errors.

5. If you are required to post three times in a week, you need to scatter the posts across the week's worth of time. Do not lump all of your posts into one five minute span. The idea is that you post throughout the entire week, not all at once at the beginning or end. All your posts are time-stamped, and you will be held to the deadlines for posting on the site. Be on time or it will not count.

With regards to grading, you will be required to post a minimum number of times. So long as you meet the minimum number of required posts in a given time period and show that you put forth effort into saying intelligent and well-conceived ideas, you will receive an 80%, regardless of how off base those ideas may be. To achieve higher percents on these activities, you must demonstrate not only keen intellectual insight into ideas, themes, symbols, characters, events, etc., but you must have lots of content within your posts. To put it short, you need both QUALITY and QUANTITY to receive full credit. Each reading assignment your posts are worth 20 points.
